چکیده

A new direction in the development of metal-matrix coatings are composites based on an amorphous matrix with reinforcing ceramic additives. In this work, composite were prepared by electrospark treatment AISI 1045 a mixture iron granules multicomponent composition CrMoWCBSi and addition tungsten carbide powder. According to X-ray analysis, increase concentration WC up 1.2 vol.%, content phase coating increased. addition, analysis showed metallic tungsten, which is product partial dissolution particles melt. microstructure coatings, inclusions diameter 1.8 ± 0.9 μm observed. The oxidation resistance at temperature 700°C decreased monotonically additive granules. microhardness was range from 814 1118 HV, higher compared completely sample (743 HV). average values friction coefficient ranged 0.60 0.67, 30 % lower than that coating. wear rate 0.5 –1.1×10−5 mm3 / Nm, without (1.8 ×10−5 Nm). optimal value powder during deposition for tribotechnical applications vol.%. Thus, use reinforced makes it possible reduce steel 45 8 times.

Carbide formation in tungsten-containing amorphous carbon films by annealing

Tungsten-containing amorphous carbon films were produced by dual magnetron sputter deposition. The formation of carbide phases after heat treatment in inert gas at temperatures up to 2800 K was investigated by X-ray diffraction for tungsten concentrations below 25 at%. After deposition, each film consists of an amorphous carbon matrix with atomically dispersed W inclusions. Annealing up to 2800...

Metal carbide/amorphous C-based nanocomposite coatings for tribological applications

This paper tries to assess the factors governing the tribological behaviour of different nanocomposites films composed by metallic carbides (MeC) mixed with amorphous carbon (a-C). Different series of MeC/a-C coatings (with Me: Ti(B) and W) were prepared by magnetron sputtering technique varying the power applied to the graphite target in order to tailor the carbon content into the films. A dee...

Effect of Porosity on Cavitation Erosion Resistance of HVOF Processed Tungsten Carbide Coatings

The phenomenon of cavitation is widely experienced in both pumps and under-water components of hydro power plants. The mechanism of material damage during cavitation is mainly attributed to implosion of high velocity bubbles on to the surface giving raise to local increase in stresses in excess of 1.4 GPa. In addition, material wastage due to particle induced erosion is observed in hydro plants...
